Ft. Desoto Bay Pier

Another beautiful day in Paradise!!! It was a little Winnnnnnnnndy today with about a 25 knot wind out of the ENE. Blading from the Bay Pier to the East end of the Ft. Desoto trail was a terrible struggle. We stopped at the flagpole to take our picture. The Flag was blowing so badly in the wind it was starting to shred. I’ve never seen this before. Later in the skate we noticed they took the flag down. A little creative thinking indicated we should not skate East or West so we went North on the main road almost up to Billy’s Moorings. We stopped at the bridge to take another group picture. Skating North and South turned out to be very enjoyable and salvaged our windy day. We had some first time skaters with the group: Nancy, Steve & Rich. Welcome new skaters.

We brunched at Shipside Cafe. Shipside Cafe was very busy and we couldn’t get a table for all of us so we took 3 separate tables. Even being so busy they took care of us pretty quickly. The food was delicious and Rob rated his a 9.5. I would have to agree. We had several bladers go kayaking with Roy instead of Brunching. Hope they didn’t blow away.

After Brunch several of us went to see the Daylilies at Dennis and Ellen’s. This was very enjoyable and they had lots to eat and drink and beautiful Daylilies. Since we had many people we haven’t seen in a while at Dennis and Ellen’s, I substituted the Day Lilly group picture (for the web site) for our 3 Brunch pictures. Note Paul (tallest, our web master) and Cass his wife in front.
