Straub Park, Downtown St Petersburg

Another pretty nice day in Paradise. As I went out today at 6:45 AM to get the paper, it started raining on me. Ahhhhhhhhhh this could be a problem. A quick call to Jeff B. indicated it wasn’t raining at his house. Karin K called and said it wasn’t raining at her house. Let's go blading!!!!! At Straub Park it had rained and the streets were a little wet. Jeff indicated it was dry on Snell Island and dry at North Shore Pool. We waited until 8:32 AM and all drove over to the North Shore Parking Lot to put our blades on. We did Snell Isle and had a great and dry skate. Unfortunately the ugly black clouds had scared off a lot of our bladers. Took group pictures on the Snell Isle Bridge and at our Snell Isle Country Club rest stop. Rob H joined us after the blade at the North Shore Pool parking lot.

We got another surprise when we went to Gold’s Restaurant for Brunch. Gold’s is gone. The Scientologists have brought the whole block and are going to demolish it and build some sort of Scientologists building there. Wonderful, the Scientologists are invading us. Jeff B suggested Dave’s Restaurant at 2339 9th St N. (Ninth Street will always be 9th Street to me.) We had to wait 10 minutes or so to get seated. Dave’s was fine for the 6 of us but would be too small for a big group. Karin said she would start looking for a new Straub Park Brunch restaurant. Rob got the Days Special omelet, I got a Philly Steak Omelet and several people got the Vegetable omelet. The people with the vegetable omelet said they were very good. Rob rated his Brunch a 7.
