The Great EsSkate 2013

The 2013 Great EsSkate was another grand and crazy time in South Beach/Miami. As usual the temperature was in the 70s and 80s which was great. Gene Cook and his helpers did a terrific job of keeping everything going smoothly. We did have some rain late Friday and most of our group decided to explore and eat out on Ocean Dr. instead of risking the wet streets. Lounging in the hotel hot tub afterwards was a no no as the pool area closed at 7 PM. Saturday everyone was primed and ready for the 26 mile skate, bicycle and bus ride. The police escort did their usual helpful service keeping us all safe and protected from the traffic. The picnic following had the best food ever this year. After devouring large amounts of the food, we lounged around during the raffle and waited to win that grand prize. A group got to together Saturday evening to enjoy the Sushi &Thai food at Sushi Siam on Lincoln Rd. Not sure if anyone made the Night Club scene afterwards. Sunday some did the Art Deco skate and Kim at least did the Scavenger Hunt. We all had a wonderful and social time and fortunately didn’t leave much of our skin on the streets of South Beach.
